Step 1: Complete 40 Hour Training From A Ministry Approved Provider
- Complete 33.5 Hours Of Security Guard Training + 7.5 Hour In Class Emergency First Aid With CPR (Level C)
- The Training Provider Will Give You A Training Completion Number Which Allows You To Go On The Government Website To Book Your Exam.

Step 2: Book & Pass The Ministry Exam ($39.55)
- Use The TCN Number To Book Your Exam On The Serco Website Here.
- You Can Take Exam In Person At A Service Ontario Or Online From Your Computer.
- 60 Question Multiple Choice Test. Score At Least 63% Or Higher And Results Emailed To You In 2 Days.
99.36% Of Students Pass The Ministry Exam On Their First Try And Get Licensed In 1-2 Weeks After Starting Our Course.
Step 3: Make A One-Key Account And Submit Application To The Ministry ($80)
- Attach A Passport Size Photo
- Complete Guarantor Form
- Sign Off On Consent To Conduct Background Check
- Attach Copies Of 2 IDs

Next Steps
Waiting For Your License/Application
You will be able to check the status of your application online within two business days.
You will get a Digital License as soon as your application is approved. The printed digital license can be used as proof of licensing until you receive your plastic license card by mail.
License Expiry
Your new license will expire two birthdays after the day it is issued (two years).
Must Carry At All Times
You must carry your valid license (whether digital or card) at all times while performing any type of security guard function. Security Guards must identify themselves and show the front of their license to anyone requesting to have you produce it, including any member of the public.
Out Of Province License Transfers to Ontario
You might be able to transfer your non-Ontario license into Ontario without needing to undergo training in Ontario. Make sure your current non-Ontario license is valid and hasn’t expired. Then reach out to the Ministry in Ontario with the following details ready.

Following confirmation that the licence is valid, ServiceOntario will determine whether or not to accept it for transfer.
